Lori Peterson, MS, MPH

Lead Grants Writer/Epidemiologist

As part of AM TRACE, Ms. Peterson offers 15+ years of experience in epidemiology, program management, statistical analysis, and medical and proposal/grant writing in remote-based and team environments. 

Ms. Peterson previously managed projects for the CDC (HIV and other infectious diseases), NIH (cancer, genetics, and viral diseases), the American Cancer Society (epidemiologic research at the national headquarters), and for CRO and pharmaceutical companies. She also has experience working with state and local health departments, providing disease surveillance and reporting for chronic and infectious diseases and the opioid overdose epidemic. 

Ms. Peterson has recruited thousands of participants and patients into clinical trials and prospective cohort studies and trained multiple teams (volunteers, clinical staff, academic collaborators) to support scope of work and project completion according to strict timelines and enrollment goals. Ms. Peterson’s background includes human and preclinical development plans, clinical trials, protocols, consent forms, IRB approvals, as well as novel drug/therapeutic, biomarker, and medical device prototyping, patenting, and development through regulatory approvals and sales (areas include cancer, non-opioid pain therapies, diabetes, neurodegeneration, infectious disease). The projects that she managed have all undergone successful auditing procedures (clinical and financial). 

Ms. Peterson was instrumental in the acquisition/merger of a start-up pharmaceutical company (spin-off from the Los Alamos National Laboratory). She is lead inventor on five biotech patents and co-inventor on seven additional patents. Lori has a BS, MS, (Biomedical Science, Molecular Genetics, Texas A&M), MPH (Cancer Epidemiology, Biostatistics, University of Washington), and DrPH, in progress (Epidemiology).
